According to music critic Rich McLaughlin, there are very few labels you can trust. Merge Records is one of the few. Founded in '89 by Superchunk's Laura Ballance and Mac McCaughan, this NC based label's roster has stood the test of time. With former acts like Neutral Milk Hotel and current bands like She and Him, Ballance and McCaughan's formula for success stands tried and true. "We've always run the label like music fans," says McCaughan. "We started a label, and we run a label counting on there being people like us." Here's to two decades and many more.
